Valentines Brownies - Recipe of the Month for February 2022

This is a great, easy recipe that always turns out fudgy and nice, using a sauce pan and a 9" square baking pan.  Little mess and fuss turns into something great for chocolate lovers!

BEST EVER "VALENTINES" BROWNIES

  • 3/4 c. flour
  • 1/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1/3 c. butter or margarine
  • 2 Tbls. water
  • 1 pkg (12 oz.) semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 c. chopped nuts
  • 1-2 tsp. instant coffee crystals or expresso powder (optional - but increases chocolate intensity)

In a large sauce pan, combine sugar, butter and water.  Bring to a boil over medium heat; remove from heat.

Stir in 1 c. of chocolate chips, vanilla and expresso powder until chocolate is melted and mixture is smooth.

Stir in eggs, 1 at a time...hand beating well after each addition.

Stir in baking soda and flour.

Stir in remaining chocolate chips and nuts.

Pour into greased 9” square baking pan

Bake at 325 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
