Timbercrest Pool Newsletter, September 2022

Volunteer appreciation night

TRC will host a Volunteer Appreciation night September 16. All members are welcome. Come celebrate our great volunteers this year.

Pool closing

Pool closing will be Saturday, September 25, 9-11 am. If you checked to help with pool closing, we will send you an email with details. The more help we have, the quicker we can be done. The palm trees won’t last the winter outside, but would make wonderful house plants. Take one!

Pool board elections

All members of the board were re-elected for another two-year term, 2023-2024. The board are president Daine Wright, vice president Becky Prachiel, treasurer Greg Lock, and secretary Laura Campbell. Thank you to all the member attendees at the fall member meeting. We had a great discussion about the present and future of the pool

Food City gift cards

Even in the off season, guest passes can be earned by purchasing $100 worth of Food City gift cards from Greg Locke (865-684-3699). Gift cards are available in $25, $50, or $100 denominations. The pool earns 5%, which adds up quickly.

Patio furniture: be on the lookout for wrought iron

The concrete round tables will soon need to be replaced. If you find a wrought iron patio set in good shape, let us know. We’re on the lookout!

Lap club and Swimmer of the Month

This year, the Timbercrest Lap Club blew past their goal of 17,000 laps. They surpassed 25,000 with the highest participation. It’s a great way to get some exercise while having fun with your neighbors. Check out the cork board next year. Who knows? You might even make Swimmer of the Month because we’re continuing that for next year.

Chili Cook-off

Timberfest and the annual neighborhood Chili Cook-off will be Saturday, October 1. Residents and pool members are invited to participate in the Chili Cook-off and enjoy an evening with their neighbors at the park. Check the website and Facebook for details as the date gets closer. Last year, Tesla and Steve Smith took home the trophy for their Chocolate Chili. I’m curious what amazing adornment they’ve added to the coveted trophy.

Timbercrest Flags will be available for purchase at Timberfest. If you want to get in the spirit early, head to the flag page on the Timbercrest website: https://timbercrestneighborhood.org/flag

Keys

If you plan to join the pool again next season, please plan on keeping your current key. If you know that you will not join next year, contact us to return your key. The board will reach out to non-returning members next season to obtain unused keys.
